Banding is a packaging technique in which items (products) of the same or different types are banded (bundled) together into a unit using a band (strip) of paper or film.

Examples: envelopes, stacks of newspapers, multipacks of goods, bundles of banknotes, fruit, and vegetables. Bundling is useful for transport reasons, among other things.

The items are enclosed in a banding machine with a band that is sealed either by heat or ultrasound.
